ChildFund Alliance logo

We collaborate with many partners—both nationally and internationally. Internationally, our partner network primarily includes the ChildFund Alliance, a coalition of child protection organizations that work together to advocate for children’s rights and opportunities for development and give them a voice in committees and advocacy coalitions. Founded in 2002, the network currently comprises 11 child protection organizations from an equal number of countries around the world.

Joining Forces logo

ChildFund Deutschland is also a member of Joining Forces – For All Children, an alliance of the six largest international children’s rights organizations. Through this alliance, ChildFund, Plan, Save the Children, SOS Children’s Villages, Terre des Hommes, and World Vision are working together to end violence against children and to strengthen and safeguard their rights worldwide.

VENRO logo

Since 2001, we have also been a member of the Association of German Non-Governmental Organizations for Development Policy and Humanitarian Aid (VENRO), which comprises a total of over 120 organizations. Together, we work worldwide to combat poverty, promote human rights, and protect the natural environment.

As a member of the “Together with Africa” alliance, we have been working since 2011 alongside more than 20 other child protection organizations and NGOs to improve living conditions on the African continent and promote fairer conditions for its development. Through educational and school-based initiatives, particularly within Germany, we aim to foster a better understanding of the humanitarian challenges in Africa and raise awareness of global interconnections and the necessity of combating poverty worldwide.

Logo of the Coalition Against AIDS

As part of the Action Alliance Against AIDS, we and more than 300 other organizations and groups advocate for the consolidation and intensification of efforts to research, treat, prevent, and combat HIV/AIDS, as well as for fostering greater solidarity with those affected. The overarching goal is to expand local resources such as health services and medications.

Logo of the Disaster Relief Action Alliance

We have been an accredited partner of the Disaster Relief Alliance since 2016. Founded by four major humanitarian aid organizations in Germany, the alliance jointly launches high-profile public appeals for donations during major emergencies to secure funding for life-saving aid, reconstruction, and medium-term development in the affected regions.

Logo of the Transparent Civil Society Initiative

Together with over 750 other signatories, we are part of the Transparent Civil Society Initiative and are thus helping to establish uniform disclosure standards for nonprofit organizations. The transparency this creates fosters greater trust by making it easier to verify information such as bylaws, decision-makers, staff, and the sources and uses of funds.

Logo of the DZI Donation Seal

Since 1995, our work has been continuously recognized with the DZI Seal of Approval from the German Central Institute for Social Issues (DZI). The DZI Seal of Approval certifies that an organization handles donations in a reputable and responsible manner and confirms its eligibility for support. By displaying the donation seal, we commit to adhering to the DZI’s guidelines. These include transparent and competent business practices, the purposeful and effective use of donated funds, the disclosure of invoices and financial records, and compliance with auditing requirements.

What does ChildFund Germany stand for, and what is the goal of its work?

Our goal is to bring about lasting improvements in the future prospects of children in need, their families, and their entire communities. Through our commitment to these children and families, we aim to make a positive difference and create lasting improvements, always guided by the principle of helping people help themselves. This enables them to exercise their rights, overcome poverty and dependency, and lead independent and self-determined lives.

How can I be sure that my donation actually reaches its destination?

The efficient use of the donations entrusted to us is our top priority. To ensure that our aid is used in a highly targeted manner, we rely on close collaboration with local partner organizations in all the countries where we operate, so that our assistance meets the specific needs on the ground. Furthermore, all our support is guided by the principle of helping people help themselves. This ensures that the people in our projects benefit from long-term and lasting changes and, in the long run, no longer depend on aid but can live independently and self-determinedly. Our transparent and responsible handling of donations is also confirmed by the DZI Donation Seal, which we have been awarded continuously since 1995 by the German Central Institute for Social Issues.

How does ChildFund Germany work?

Our work is made possible by three sources of funding: sponsorships, other donations, and public funds. Our projects funded by sponsorships are designed for the long term. They are characterized by particularly close collaboration between our partner organizations in the respective project country and the local communities.

The donation-based and publicly funded projects have a shorter duration. Due to the limited timeframe, these projects require more intensive planning and support on our part.

In all projects, ChildFund plays two specific roles: First, raising funds so that the project work can be implemented at all. And second, bringing together and building bridges between those who provide money and expertise and those who lack these resources. The goal is to maximize mutual benefit from the collaboration and to advance our projects in the most effective way possible.
