Frequently asked

Future Donor? Recurring Donation? Monthly Donation?

"Future Donor"? "Ongoing Donation"? "Monthly Donation"? They sound
different, but at ChildFund, they all mean the same thing. Your donation enables ChildFund Germany to provide quick and flexible help to those in greatest need on the ground.

What is a "Future Donor"?

A “Future Donor” at ChildFund Germany is a regular donor who provides long-term support for ChildFund Germany’s projects through a monthly donation. As a “Future Donor,” your donation makes a wide-ranging impact, and you’ll receive reports and information about the projects and people who are being supported thanks to your donation.

How much does a regular donation cost?

As a general rule, the higher the amount, the greater the impact of the donation. You can start making regular donations to ChildFund Germany starting at just 10 euros per month. Every contribution helps us provide sustainable support to children in need, as well as their families and communities around the world, and help them become self-reliant.

Can I change the amount?

Yes! You can adjust your monthly donation amount at any time. Just get in touch with us—we'll be happy to adjust your monthly contribution.

Is my donation tax-deductible?

Yes. Your donation is tax-deductible starting with the very first euro, since ChildFund Germany is recognized as a nonprofit organization. For donations up to 300 euros, simple proof—such as a bank statement—is usually sufficient. For larger amounts, you’ll need a donation receipt. We’ll automatically issue one for you for annual donations of 200 euros or more.

Will I receive a donation receipt?

ChildFund Germany always sends out the consolidated donation receipt for donations made during the year at the beginning of the following year, depending on the total amount donated. If your total donations for the year do not exceed 300 EUR, a bank statement is sufficient as proof for the tax office; if the total amount exceeds 300 EUR, you will automatically receive a donation receipt from us. Currently, the receipt is mailed to you; ChildFund Germany reserves the right to send donation receipts via email in the future. If you lose your receipt, you can request a duplicate from us.

Where does my money go?

With a recurring donation, your money goes where it is needed most. This means you support all of ChildFund’s projects, and children and families around the world benefit as a result. Because your donation can be used flexibly, ChildFund can allocate the funds where they will have the greatest impact, thereby providing particularly effective assistance.

What kinds of projects are supported?

Whether through development cooperation or humanitarian aid projects, the donations from our “Future Donors” help in many different ways and support our global efforts on behalf of children and families in need.

Can I choose the purpose?

As a “Future Donor” donor, your donation benefits all of our projects. It will be used flexibly where it is most urgently needed and where it best supports our work on these projects. Therefore, it is not possible to provide targeted support for a single project through a “Future Donor” donation.

How does the "Future Donor" program differ from a sponsorship?

As a “Future Donor,” you support all of our projects. A sponsorship, on the other hand, specifically benefits a child and his or her immediate surroundings.

How often will I receive updates on the results?

As a “Future Donor,” you’ll receive regular updates about our work. At first, you’ll receive initial information at short intervals. After that, you’ll receive the “Zukunftsgeber” newsletter and our general newsletter on a regular basis. Of course, you can unsubscribe from either newsletter at any time.

Frequently asked

What does ChildFund Deutschland stand for, and what is the goal of its work?

Our goal is to bring about lasting improvements in the future prospects of children in need, their families, and their entire communities. Through our commitment to these children and families, we aim to make a positive difference and create lasting improvements, always guided by the principle of helping people help themselves. This enables them to exercise their rights, overcome poverty and dependency, and lead independent and self-determined lives.

How can I be sure that my donation actually reaches its destination?

The efficient use of the donations entrusted to us is our top priority. To ensure that our aid is used in a highly targeted manner, we rely on close collaboration with local partner organizations in all the countries where we operate, so that our assistance meets the specific needs on the ground. Furthermore, all our support is guided by the principle of helping people help themselves. This ensures that the people in our projects benefit from long-term and lasting changes and, in the long run, no longer depend on aid but can live independently and self-determinedly. Our transparent and responsible handling of donations is also confirmed by the DZI Donation Seal, which we have been awarded continuously since 1995 by the German Central Institute for Social Issues.

How does ChildFund Deutschland work?

Our work is made possible by three sources of funding: sponsorships, other donations, and public funds. Our projects funded by sponsorships are designed for the long term. They are characterized by particularly close collaboration between our partner organizations in the respective project country and the local communities.

The donation-based and publicly funded projects have a shorter duration. Due to the limited timeframe, these projects require more intensive planning and support on our part.

In all projects, ChildFund plays two specific roles: First, raising funds so that the project work can be implemented at all. And second, bringing together and building bridges between those who provide money and expertise and those who lack these resources. The goal is to maximize mutual benefit from the collaboration and to advance our projects in the most effective way possible.
